Best Uses of an Under Vehicle Inspection System An Under Vehicle Inspection (UVI) is an under vehicle scanning system which has an imaging system placed on a roadway. It is used to detect threats hidden under vehicles like bombs. They have cameras to capture under-vehicle images for the automated or manual inspection conducted by systems or security personnel. In the late 1980s, the first under vehicle scanning system was developed as part of a joint operation by Morfax (which now belongs to Chemring Group) and UK Home Office. The system used area scan cameras and gave black and white images. Since then, the systems were developed with more advanced systems. For example, it was developed with the database in 1994, ANPR in 1997, color imagery in 2005, automated change detection in the year 1999, and chemical detection in the year 2012.
